I am a social psychologist who specializes in analyzing close relationships from an evolutionary perspective. I am also interested in the use of non-linear dynamic modeling, evolutionary programming, and network analysis in modeling social scientific phenomena. I am an amateur chess player who enjoys unorthodox maneuvers and playing black because it is defensive.

I have a definite love of reading- especially non-fiction. When I am not reading science I am usually re-reading my complete collection of Hunter S. Thompson- the prize piece of which is a first edition Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.

I also enjoy hiking, snow-boarding, surfing, long distance running, music and painting as forms of meditation.

I used to play chess in middle school with an extraordinary friend of mine, Keenan Sloan- since estranged- and he used to wipe the floor with me- but then again, he knew Latin at 10 and later became a state chess champion. I have not played very much since then until I joined this site. Since joining, I have become quite enthusiastic, especially for the quick blitz games.
