@mwmillersaid @Russ I think there is a problem again with the 'my games' page. It came up earlier in the beta, and was fixed, but now it's back. I set the 'my games' page up to show the 'compact' view, but that doesn't stay selected. If I leave the page then come back, or just refresh it, the view reverts back to whatever the default is.
Ok, this is probably related to the me changing the view type ids for the new view type. I'll take a look.
@mwmillersaid I'm still using a laptop running win7.
I don't usually care for 'dark mode' but decided today to try it in the beta.
In one of my games, my opponent sent an 'in game' text message, and in dark mode I way barely able to read it.
I composed a reply and it was fine as I put it together, but when I finished the message and made and sent it with my next move, my reply was also ...[text shortened]... re in the chat log.
So is this just a problem with the beta, or does it need further attention?
I'll take a look at that, and get a fix up.
Dark mode in general definitely needs some refining, but not enough to hold up the update.
Thanks for all the feedback so far. Many issues have been addressed since this process started.
Next week, once further testing of the clan code is complete, this beta will become an Open beta which I would encourage everyone to take a look at. (A post will go into Site announcements & General forum to promote this.)
The following have been fixed (edited from lead post)
- More button ('...' ) options sometimes not completely visible (e.g. My Home, Urgent games)
- Home page text contrast poor in dark mode.
- Board defaults too large causing layout issues (off screen, requiring a scroll.)
- Close buttons not visible in dark mode ('X' ).
I've been making some changes to tablet sized formatting (specifically when landscape) so iPad rendering should be a quite a bit better now.
@mwmillersaid Is there a plan to update the FAQ section? I have found one thing that should be changed.
I recently recruited a new member for RHP, and explained to him that he needed to take a little time to think about what he wanted as a username, as it cannot be changed. He could change his email or password if he needed to, but the username could not be changed.
And then just ...[text shortened]... be updated by new users once within first 30 days. Subscribers can also update once every 365 days.
I've made a few quick edits to correct obviously incorrect information (such as account name changes) and added processes. (archiving games).
I've also added direct links to relevant settings pages. No idea why this was not always the case!
- Pages move side to side when dragged by my finger rather than being static within the screen. Actually game page in original does move but the forum thread listing page is fixed. I like the “fixed” feel, it is more substantive somehow. I hope this makes sense I’m probably using incorrect terms.
- Live chess play is available from the beta. (Some new code pushed to the RHP production site too, to enable this.)
-Browsing and searching live games is now available, similar in function to current production, but with infinite scroll instead.
-iOS specific rubber-band scrolling when page dragged prevented. So, on iPhones/iPad, the page should be locked to the screen size horizontally, without any further scrolling if dragged about once the page is fully loaded.
-Styling change - lists of label/values pairs changed from bolded labels to bolded values.
- DM's on mobile. Choosing a chat now closes the inbox/outbox list automatically.
