In this game I wrote the annotations at the time I made the move. Sadly I chose a particularly languid anti-Benoni line that is quite draw-ish in nature.
1. d4
Currently my favourite first move.
1... Ng8f6 2. c4
I never know if this is worth the tempo, but it does negate the pressure on d5.
2... c5 3. dxc5
Quickest way out of the book but can be somewhat bland. I've seen 3...Qa5+ and 3...e6 here.
3... e6 4. Ng1f3
Routine developing move. I expect Bxc5.
4... Bf8xc5 5. e3
Allows access for the light bishop. If Qb6 and Ng4 pressure can build against f2 so this move hinders that. I have tended to play the dark bishop to b2 thus a king-side fianchetto is probably a luxury too far in terms of tempo.
5... O-O 6. a3
I considered Nc3 and Be2 here, but played a3 to prepare b4 and Bb2. I want to see if he plays a5 or not.
6... Nb8c6 7. b4
Following the Queen's Gambit Accepted colours reversed theme by preparing Q side Fianchetto.
7... Bc5e7 8. Bc1b2
Placing bishop on long diagonal as prepared earlier.
