    Well, it's over for another year. The hype, silly costumes, flashing lights, silly bits of bio on players, complete with everything from dedicating their football career to their great aunt Edna, to stories of how they had to walk 3 miles to school in the snow, studios full talking heads yapping about which team had a better draft, coaches and GM's yapping about how happy they are with their picks etc. and you know what?

    It doesn't mean very much at all.

    Drafting smart is a factor, but 80% of winning in the NFL is a result of coaches making smart calls, putting together smart game plans, and making sure the players can execute those things on the field. This is why some teams finish in the upper half of the standings year after year, and others struggle year after year, despite having higher draft picks. The difference between drafting 1st and drafting 28th is so tiny it doesn't mean squat, despite what the stat freaks tell you.

    @mchill

    You're 100% right.
    On another note...
    I never understood why people idolize people who play sports.
    I've always believed sports was created to control the masses.
    (American sports on TV to the point of hero worship)
    Give the masses something or someone to look at and think about and they are less likely to rise up and kill the rich.
    Which has happened many times in history before sports got big.
    Before mainstream sports Americans used to worship the horses.
    Read the book Seabiscuit.
    Great book about horse racing right before sports really took off.
    Sports are their to keep dump people calm.
    Why the hell would anyone want to watch millionaires play a dumb game?
    I watch the world chess championship so maybe I'm no better 🤔
