Christian believer in 'Eternal Torment': It is evil or righteousness; there will be no half and half, it will be one or the other among men, and that is found either in Jesus Christ our Savior, or us dying in our sins.
A non-believer curious about the doctrine of 'Eternal Torment': Why didn't Jesus arrange to have himself tortured in burning flames for eternity if that is, as you claim, the "just" price to pay for "sins" ~ or in his case, hom supposedly "paying" for EVERYONE'S "sins"? Why was he only executed?

There is not one poster here who is a believer in the doctrine of eternal suffering who will be wiling and/or able to provide a coherent answer to this laser beam focused question.
the foundation of the new testament ( meaning the "new covenant" ) is love.
the resurection was an act of evidence. it itself, is not the meaning of christianity
the foundation of the old testament ( meaning the old covenant"😉 is justice.
on the cross, the christ suffered justice and gave love ( not going to repeat all the words of the christ spoken on the cross here ). on the cross, both the old and new covenants were tied together.

if he burns in hell for eternity then there is no heaven
it's god committing suicide
@lemondropsaid isn't the resurrection a foundation of Christianity?
How does the "resurrection" make torment in burning flames for eternity a "just" punishment for not believing in the "resurrection" and all the rest of the dogma?

The doctrine of eternal suffering does involve death, it involves the deliberate maintenance of existence such that those in the last of fire will suffer torment forever in the presence of the Lamb (Jesus).
This is a complex topic involving centuries of layered dogma, scholastic teaching and evangelistic proselytism. If you want to get into the debate, which is a fascinating study into amoral religious zealotry. So you need to have a bit of an understanding of the topic.

I'd love to see at least one or two threads here not end up about "burning in hellfire for eternity" by the end of two pages (sometimes one page).

You could try starting a thread or two of your own topics?.
Meanwhile I would say that the notion of a loving God who deliberately tortures people for eternity if they fail to believe in him is a topic of such enormity that it will come up in here time and again, especially when we have the likes of sonship and KellyJay promoting it as being some sort of perfect justice.
He lives in the "far country", a place beyond your limited intelligence.
"Heaven" is an eternal round of love and an eternal round of being. nothing is lost, nothing is born....all is as what is.. not i am that i am. ..but that which is but which is.
my point is that there is no scriptural authority.
there is a creed which speaks of the christ visiting hell but the creed does not report that he "burned" in hell ,...which was the derogatory point of the old post.

No one has suggested there is creed where Jesus is burned in "Hell" for eternity. No one has suggested there is. You have completely missed the point of the OP question.
