OK. It need not be "a man's" deeds - "a person's" deeds is better - and the "nothing else" bit is a bit hyperbolic and simplistic, but the idea behind the assertion is worth exploring nevertheless. One's inner life and perceived-in-the-first-person narrative aside, does much else matter in terms of who a person is relative to others apart from "deeds"?

i never fleshed out the details, but,
a scriptural book of television and movie writer's convictions would be an interesting thing to read

I would add what a person says also helps determine who are they are. Also, how they act; their disposition, mannerisms, etc.

Whether or not God is fond of me, is irrelevant to the topic in this thread. You might be surprised about who God is fond of. It says much about people [3 so far here] who instead of sticking to the topic choose to make direct or snide derogatory remarks about someone. I bet you cannot find anything wrong with what I have said, neither can you find anything I have boasted about. Your beef with me is that you support the homosexual lifestyle, and it is because I have repeated Gods stance on this matter, you chose to condemn me. Jesus said when this happens to be happy. I am happy.
A person is the sum of his/her life experiences combined to that point in life. A person's deeds can be argued as a negative thing, when they are being done for positive reasons. For example, if somebody is slinging dope, then that is societally dubbed as a drug dealer and is seen as wrong. If the dealer is doing it to come up with money to send his/her kid through college to escape a life of continual financial hardships, is that then making things better in the end, and subsequently positive?
Why deeds are being done can be just as important as the deeds themselves.
