im going to guess that white starting off at the bottom. this problem will NEVER HAPPEN. look at the white pawns that have adva ...[text shortened]... ed in rank, and look at the white pawns that are still on the 2nd rank

By using positions that are
not gamelike, composers can show a far wider range of ideas than those found in regular chess games.

Joined 25 Jun '06 Moves 947 You've composed a clever and interesting problem, but since the moves are forced, most players will figure it out fairly quickly. The white pawn structure could have been obtained by captures.

Yes. Actually after b4, cxb4 is my main line, cause then idea of b4 is seen.
So the solution goes: 1.a7+ Ka8 2.cxb7+ Kxb7 3.a8=Q+ Qxa8 4.Rxa8 Kxa8 5.b4! cxb4 6.d4 (stops black's knight from giving check on e5, after Nxd7) b3 7.d7 Nxd7 8.h7 b2 9.h8=Q+ Kb7 10.Qh7 how do you propose to win after 1.a7+ Ka8 2.cxb7+ Kxb7 3.a8=Q+ Qxa8 4.Rxa8 Kxa8 5.b4! Kb7!
