Well done! Next! Lets try and keep it going.
Is everything fair game, or should we try and relate the picture to something specific, such as chess?
I guess we could state what it is related to when first posted, as the first clue.

I have uploaded a new header image to my profile page. It is not related to chess.

Clue 1: If you have seen something like this in it's normal location, you are kind of old. (I am, and I have seen it ...)

Clue 2: I have only seen it in North America, but it may have been seen in other places as well.

Clue 1 suggests it doesn't exist anymore and hasn't done for some time.
    Is there a religious connection?

If it's what I think it is then me and Venda (both in Britain) were more familiar with this:

    Well done!
Yes, a tv test pattern or card. Used to be seen when the tv station was stopping broadcasting for the night. Once the programming was done, if you turned the tv on you often saw a variety of these test patterns. Different ones for different broadcasting networks and local stations. They were mostly seen in the mid fifties and gradually were taken away, when stations started broadcasting 24/7.

I was pretty sure they were in use worldwide, but could only verify for certain that they were used in the US.

OK, I did one and once again it was guessed quickly, so will have to try a little harder.

Someone else's turn for now, though.

Well I've done another one but it took me that long to mess about with the image in my files and then load it into rhp that as was said before, it's probably not worth the effort!!
Anyway anyone who has been to this place will recognise it instantly.
Don't look for me in the picture!!

It looks like someplace tropical, but I have no idea, and I'm pretty sure I have never been there.

    Tropical is correct.
We were told it's one of the main attractions of this area

    We probably need more clues!
Is it close to the equator?
    Continent or Island?
    Northern or Southern Hemisphere?

I know that I have not ever been there, so for me it's just a guessing game.
Hopefully someone else will join in here and be familiar with it!

Would that be somewhere in Jamaica then? That's all I can come up with. Jamaica Farewell by Belefonte?

Yes Jamaica , but the song is something else and refers to the specific area, but not the actual location, so a full answer would be chess house, Central Park, Manhattan New York USA and a song clue could be"New York New York" or even the song "Manhattan" by Ella Fitzgerald
