    Virtual RPS (just for fun)
We will assume previous (virtual) round was a DRAW both players choosing ROCK

Your algorithm will be of the form:
    If lose then X
    If draw then X
    If win then X

Where X is of the form
    my previous
    beat my previous
    lose to my previous
    opponents previous
    beat opponent's previous
    lose to opponent's previous

    You may complicate by introducing
different rules for odd and even rounds

Send me a PM with your algorithm for a 6 round RPS league.

It will be all play all.
Closing date for entries midnight 25th May.
I will publish results 1st June.

    No skill involved except psychology!

    Congratulations Divegeester.

At risk of taking this way too seriously can we see how the rounds played out or do people want to keep their secret formula for future competitions??

You would have to ask the competitors.
But I can assure you none were too complex!

a robotic hand was built that was unbeatable in the game
because of its ability to quickly know the opponents decision was able, in a fraction of a second, to make the winning choice

I stuck with my previous unless I won which was beat my previous, but I can't help wondering whether a mathematician would say that no system could change your odds so it comes down to second guessing others I suppose?

divegeester chose ROCK every round regardless.
Trev33 chose SCISSORS every round regardless.

petewxyz was a bit more imaginative.
He kept his previous choice unless he won in which case he chose to beat his previous.

I'll umpire another league if there is a bit more interest!

This is a site full of competitive people. If you get Divegeester to make much of his victory or you make much of it, people will arrive! Why not write an entry yourself before you get any others in. I seriously can't see cheating accusations for this but then I always was naïve!

The next champion can umpire the following competition ... then I can take part.

I think divulging everyone's tactics will be a feature.

I'd like to thank Wolfgang59 for the idea, my agent for getting me involved, my trainer for his patience and belief and my wife for not bothering me.

I spent approximately 20 seconds considering the permutations and decided that winning was pure luck with a smidgen of faux psychology and a dash of superstition. A further 10 seconds was blown on deciding to therefore go with a single element. I then spent a further 30 seconds deciding which element to choose and went for rock because it is more elemental than human manufactured paper or scissors.

In short, winning is simple and lucky.

90% luck at the moment I feel.

The simplest tactic chosen by you and Trev33 can always be beaten.
The simplest tactic that beats that system can always be beaten by a more complicated one.
Beyond that ... I'm not sure, probably all luck, but we shall see?
