commas ? Seriously, I'm distracted by that pawn, but I'm sure it's the pawnbroker pawn and not the chess pawn.

I'm guessing the word is HOCK (Wedgwood Dynasty design wineglass, rabbit ankle joint, slang for pawn, eggs benedict).

You've not quite got the right idea ducks.
There's 4 different words -one for each description.All four words are linked.For example if the words were red orange yellow and green the answer would be the 1st 4 colours of the spectrum.Hock is one of the words and does refer to" the state of being in pawn"

In that case I'm completely baffled. If HOCK is one of the words, it's possible that wine is the common factor, but I'm at a loss to see wine in any of the other three clues. Sorry. Anyone else want to have a go?

A rabbit trap is a cage with a spring-loaded door. No wine involved. I think we need a hint.

I just copied the text from the paper.
Rabbit trap really means a trap to snare woodland creratures.The items were used to trap small creatures "rabbit" being just one example. I think they may be illegal now.You certainly wouldn't want to get your foot in one while walking in the woods!!

Could you furnish a complete example including the clues, the answer, and an explanation of the process to arrive at that answer. Then present the next puzzle.

Are the answers all drinks perhaps?

Almost correct.
The answers were (gin) trap, hock, (scotch) egg and Bourbon dynasty -all alcoholic drinks.
Kewpie's idea was to try and revive interest in this thread by expanding the topics to word type puzzles as well as mathematical ones.
I only get a paper once a week so I can't publish another puzzle of this type until next Saturday but I have an old book of word type puzzles(as well as mathematical ones):-

TSETSE
but there's an A left over. I tried STOAT but couldn't get anywhere with that either.
