I just finished a game where I won with a mating pattern shown to me by greenpawn. Is there a name for this type of mate? It is tricky and I do not think I would have seen it if not for that thread from long ago.

I mean dropping the queen inside the knight from the g7 square instead of taking the trapped rook. This one is backwards. I would think it would normally take place on the b7 side of the board.

This is all fine and well, but maybe you should reconsider your behavior in other forums on this site first.

    Thank you.

Why? Nobody cares about other people doing it.

Don't you care about your own behavior and presentation of self?

I would rather this place be moderated so that people do not get abused and wives do not get called skanky ass whores who are chained to toilets.

When shav is left unmoderated his crap will eventually spread throughout the forum, even the chess forum.

I have spent some time trying to find a name for it, and while I would not call it an "Anastasia's Mate", it does seem to be a little similar.

It kind of looks like a combo of an Epaulette mate in there as well with the queen cutting off an escape square.

Maybe we'll just call it Eladar's Mate. 😉

Here is a link to some mating patterns which have names:

Yours appears to be a combination of "Back Rank" and "Anastasia's Mate."

Just ran into this mate doing a puzzle. Never even considered it. At least not until I saw the puzzle, I was thinking does this really work? Then decided yes.

Anastasia has a piece blocking the square in front and to the side.
