Thank you so much for this one. I always enjoy your writing, but making a computer system human-like is a big treat!

Yep, watching the games on tcec has been interesting over past 6 months. The leela fanatics are very vocal.

...and the best blog ever. So far at least!

I told my friends at the club that playing over the games (I own the book as well), is like playing over games from the 1920's- 1950's. Scientific play and Romanticism blended into a beautiful era for chess, and we are back again at the same spot, but from an entirely different route.

It also occurred to me that, after reading the book and learning how fundamentally principled Alphazero's games are, it's like the engine's algorithm is basically a Fred Reinfeld book!

    Fishing for Compliments 😉?

Best of the good ones. I don't think I have read a weak one and I have probably read nearly all of them. (without being able to shed my usual blundering imidiate moves...

    Hi Ponderable,

Been a couple of what I would call unintentional lame ones.
But they make me put more effort into the next one.

Trouble is when I've done what I consider a good one,
I'm left with a feeling, now how do I follow that.
I'm still enjoying the challenge and as long as you guys
keep supplying the fodder, I'll keep going.

Often in between moves waiting for replies I go to view games
in gallery mode (you can see the final position) and look at positions
to see if there is anything I can use. Rarely fail to find something of note.

Game 13304144 White missed a standard mate in two in lost.

Obviously he needed his queen to defend his rook. He saw a good move and did not look for a better.

    @meterman

Tcec.chessdom.com can go to archives for past seasons. Will be a bit before they get to round with leela.
