    Anyone know of any chess book dealers?
    I'm looking for an old book from 1849.

    The chess players companion by Howard Staunton.

    I want a mint condition, first edition. 🤗

    Thanks and maybe I will buy it but I was hoping for a dealer who specializes in old chess books.

    If you happen to visit Dresden (Saxonia, Germany) you find one in Oskar-Mai-Strasse 6...
    I doubt that they have the precise book you look for, but y0u can find some gems (mostly German and Russian antiquaric books).

    @sundown316

    I actually met him once in New York.
    It's a small room with a massive amount of books.
    He had a cat there too LoL.

    He got offended when I said I like his books with co-author Bruce Albertson.

    His name is Alberston not Albertson

    I worked on most of Fred's books as a proof-reader. I've known him for over 40 years, and yes, he is that crabby, I think he was born that way!

    I recall Fred Wilson's place to be much smaller than a small room. A generously sized closet is what a real estate agent would pitch.
