    What happened to the number 1 player Cenerntola? He has disappeared from the number 1 ranking.

    Seems to have disappeared from the site entirely now. I was curious to see how someone could drop from #1 to 1450 rating, but get no result in a player search.

    The spelling should be "cenerentola".
    If this is the same person you are talking about, that member is still active as of about 9 hours ago.

    Cenerentola resigned about 90 games all on one day a few days ago, hence his rapid drop in rating.
    Virtually all the games he resigned in were against players rated below 2000.
    The games he has decided not to resign are all against players rated above 2000 (who will now all be losing a whole load more rating points than they were expecting, if/when they lose to him - at the time of this posting, he’s rated 1450.)

    when you start a game with someone rated, say 2550, then that person's rating goes way down, for whatever reason, so at the end you win the game..do you gain points based on his rating at the BEGINNING of the game, or at the END ?

    different websites and OTB tournaments handle this issue differently. Some give 1 point for a win regardless of the ratings. If I knew the answer, I wouldn't have asked the question...

    you've been on this site long enough to know how the ratings are calculated

    This player is very active and climbing back up the rankings...circ 1860 as I write. Personally I'm not going to help them to my detriment so I've immediately resigned the four games I've unfortunately been drawn to play against them. Just seems really disrespectful to resign all these games. If it's a mental health issue I'm obviously sympathetic but otherwise it's a bit wrong

    @JimmyBilly

    Just wait until he gets back to 2500 and then lose.
    You might get some ratings points because of the huge rating difference 🤔
    I'm playing him too and that's what I'm going to do.

    If it WAS at the start of the game wouldn't that put a stop to the sandbagging?
