To hinder spammers and multi-account abusers of the forums, a minimum of 10 moves is now required before you can create a new thread or post to the forums.
The exception is the help forum, which remains open to anyone. Also, in the rare occurrence that someone becomes a subscriber within 10 moves, they too can post freely.

Great move Russ but as Joe Ward demonstrates, 10 moves is far too few.
I would suggest 300 moves.
That is about 10 games.
When I first joined I just read the forums for a while, I'm sure most do that.
300 moves is a month at most for most players.

300 moves is a lot of moves for people who don't play much or may be higher rated who take longer to move in my humble opinion. I agree that 10 is too few!

300 is too many. I've made 81 moves so far this month.
If the 10-move threshold does not radically reduce the amount of spam, another measure might be considered.
