Never dated those stereotypical women that read those
dreadful rags but I acknowledge their existence and the women
that read them. I dare say they will not exist in 50 years time.
Perhaps you could tell us what a typical men's magazine looks like?
Men's magazines tend to be either
thing or
activity focused, rather than, as in women's magazines,
person or
relationship oriented. Men's magazines are about such things as vehicles and sports, cars/motorcycles/bicycles/airplanes/guns, golf/surfing/rock climbing/hunting/fishing, or the various accessories needed for these activities, and men's 'health' (= muscle building).

Women's magazines look like these:

With two exceptions -- a) Good Housekeeping and American Farmhouse (how's that for stereotypical: the woman's place is in the home), and b) food-related (how's that for stereotypical: the woman's place is in the kitchen at home ) -- there is nearly always a woman's smiling face on the cover, embodying the current ideal of feminine pulchritude. I love the one that emblazons 'heal your thyroid, lose 38 lbs by Christmas.'
Of course, there are exceptions, a few magazines would be gender neutral or of equal interest to men and women, but the broad stereotypes hold in the monthly publishing industry.
Viva la difference.
EDIT
A typical men's magazine: 'Hobby Workshop' (a parody):
Letters to the Editor: 'My wife tidied up the workshop while I was out fishing and sorted all the screws —
by color !!" P.J. Tiddle, Waubash IN. Editor replies: put a lock on the door.
Comparison: WD-40 vs. Silicon spray. We drove to Denali AK where it was 40 below, the car door locks froze shut in the parking lot. Which spray opened them them?
Road test: We pound the shi*t out of the new Stanley ball peen hammer.
Comparison: Phillips vs. TOX.
Opinion: Do you need a hydraulic lift?
Safety goggles: Don't weld without them!
Fire extinguishers: We got a little carried away with the welding torch. Five fire extinguishers under $100, comparison test.
For sale bulletin board: five fire extinguishers (slightly used), $50 each.
