All I know for sure is that the centenary of the first issue of Amazing Stories (published by Hugo Gernsback) won't happen until April of 2026.

What interesting developments are we likely to see in the 2020s?

The end of the Chump presidency. That is the BEST thing that will happen in the next ten years. Hopefully in 2020.
Outside of that, tech is going to get really serious, quantum computers will finally be built with a few thousand qubits so the big problems can be solved.
Perhaps the end of cancers, most of them anyway, maybe a cure for alzheimer's, Lupus, diabetes, dementia and such.
Back to the moon, finding water (ice) on the moon.
More rovers on Mars, finding life there maybe.
Probes going to Europa to sample the water fountains shooting into space in the search for extraterrestrial life, with many questions if they do find life there or on Mars, like is it related to DNA based life on Earth?
Hopefully the end of sucking off the tit of fossil fuels and switching to renewables.
The end of the opioid crisis, end of aids.

Thank you, @sonhouse. All very plausible developments. It seems it won't be long before our remaining central problems will be psychological, social, and spiritual (which they are to some extent already, because of the problems we could solve with current tech, but don't).

Trump ceasing to be President is hardly a prediction considering he only has two four year terms and is nearly halfway through.

They will be The Roaring Twenties,
    or perhaps The Soaring Twenties,
but not, let us hope, The Boring Twenties.

The Economist: 2019 is the year of the vegan.7 Jun 2019.

Interest in 'veganism' increased seven fold in the five years between 2014 and 2019, according to Google trends. It now gets almost four times more interest than vegetarian and gluten free searches. https://www.vegansociety.com/news/media/statistics

I predict that world veganism will rise from 8% to 25%.

Humans become more productive with good health.

The huge increase in cardio-vascular accidents in developed countries are mainly due to the unnecessary and excessive consumption of animal protein. Humans become more healthy by consuming a higher ratio of plant to animal protein.

We’ll start to develop an improved productivity of the land whereby good quality crops are grown using the principles of permaculture? Where the soil is encouraged to maintain and improve it’s biodiversity of microorganisms and minerals instead of being stripped of it’s goodness and water resources with industrial animal farming and it’s damaging effects being reduced.

Veganism doesn’t appear to be the answer then.

Though a meat eater myself (and will continue to be...old habits die hard) perhaps that is because it takes some time for the body to adjust to the change in where the protein is derived?
