My favourite season is upon us here in the Southern Hemisphere.

For those of you who don't know, the Cape Peninsula (on which Cape Town is built) is a very special place. It is home to one of the world's six floral kingdoms, Capensis, which is more biodiverse than the Amazon, and the fynbos ("fine bush" in Dutch/Afrikaans) plants are unlike any in the world. When I am able to study what I desire (chemistry with medicinal chemistry in the UK), I shall certainly focus on the vast, untapped medicinal potential of these endemic plants. Indeed, I believe I have already made discoveries.

Anyway, I wanted to share some photos at several different locations:

    Klaasenbosch Greenbelt Trail, Constantia
This is a trail in the middle of a wealthy suburb known for Cape Dutch architecture, prestigious vineyards, and beautiful greenery. I often walk my adopted MinPin here.

    Newlands Forest
This forest is on the south face of Table Mountain. My university campus is on the slope of Devil's Peak about 5 minutes away, and I often come here for a walk if I have a break at lunch. In sharp contrast to the Mediterranean-scrub-like climate of the fynbos biome that is present almost everywhere else in Cape Town, this place is cool, wet and lush. The loamy soil on the mountainside is also rich in psilocybin mushrooms. I was once given some, and a statistically lucid experience followed.

    Miscellaneous
Just a hodge-podge of photos taken around town in the past few weeks.

My camera is very high resolution, so they might take a few minutes to load.

Fabulous imagery, I particularly liked the one looking up to devils peak and table mountain. I visited South Africa a couple of times several years ago and loved it.

On the first trip we visited table mountain and I remember beige mesmerised by the sheerness of the blue sky and the cascading of the cloud blanket over the edge of the mountain. Stunning.

The wineries were gorgeous and I got to meet a cheetah too!
