Possibly because it's one poster posting the same thing every day for the past year?

Actually, trev if you were to read it. It is different everyday with information you may or may not know. Why are you so Jealous of my thread? Or are you just going with the gooster on that one? 🙂 😛 I don't think the poll will get rid of my thread, don't even know why you bother trying. 😛 You do know you don't even have to read it, which you probably haven't which is why you assumed it was the same posting everyday. 🙂

Long conflict-free forum threads serve a purpose. They're the glue that holds the forum community. Exciting threads polarise the readers and posters, but they're not comfortable environments for many people.
If you need to be in a place where people are, do you choose a library, an A&E or a cafe? Depends why you need the human contact, no?

A&E used to present lots of great programming.
I can't say that it involved any kind of fellowship, however.

I just clicked my remote...and on popped Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth.
The best version of "Pride and Prejudice" ever!
    😉

I really feel bad for those who have to come to a chess site to communicate with people.

This is but one arm of what can be an “arsenal of weapons” used in communicating with people.

If you are handicapped it is a good way of communicating, or not mobile. Other than that I believe one should get out and communicate with people. Something missing just on the internet communicating in my humble opinion.
