Everyone loves a good limerick
(Though some say they're rather archaic)
The third line is shorter
The fourth line can't hurt yer
But do try to keep them on topic!
Glastonbury, Wimbledon and the Turner Prize have all been cancelled but nothing can hold back a Limerick competition. For the next week I invite everyone to enter. A limerick should contain five lines with a rhyme scheme of aabba. However, anyone who wishes to deviate may deviate away. After a week I will hold a vote over four days to reveal rhp's best limericks. As many entries as you like. Do give your limerick a title so we know which one to vote for.
I once played a game with a sheikh
There's no doubt that my moves were well made
"You're not very good!"
Said the sheikh, standing up
"In four moves from here it's checkmate."
Everyone loves a good knobbly,
calms the kids when silly and squabbly.
It's the end piece of bread,
smothered in butter, enough said,
cheers you up when feeling all wobbly.
I love eating a thing that crunches.
Especially if it's not grown in bunches.
I've searched the world over,
tread on much clover...
and still am relying on hunches.
"It was this big!" the fisherman cried.
And escaped before mine own eyes.
The fish stole my car
Then drove to a bar
And passed out drinking lager and limes.
