Or is it? Hang on, I'm losing the thread here.

Tie a big knot at one end so as not to slip through the eye.

    One can only hope.

    Two can collaborate.

    Three can start a trend.

Four can begin to add nuance and complexity.

    Five makes a substantive community.

Six reaches a critical mass to start a natural yet unpleasant social environment that facilitates the seminal formation of cliques and parsing.

Seven is the critical number that will lead to the formation of subgroups and splits into different camps.

Eight is nearly indistinguishable from seven, except for being vulnerable to two equally sized groups, or sects, or camps, which leads to an impasse and intransigence. Ultimately, a super majority must form. Eight will never hold the common ground with a singular self interest.

Nine .. . . the largest digit . . . . a number so profound that it starts to exceed the scope of immediate conception. Is it really nine, or two groups of four and five, or three equal groupings of three, three, and three? Alas, it might even potentially be an eight and one, except, of course, that eight is non-sustainable (see above). Nine is at the crest of something much larger . . . 10!
