I didn't stay up to see the voting last night but I heard that Austria's contender Conchita /Tom Neuwirth was believed by many to win. Swedish singer Sanna Nielsen made a great performance and many others did too, but Conchita was special and she fights for the right to be different - a love message.

A good, now departed friend of mine dressed like that once, with facial hair but blonde hair. Almost a lookalike.

The love message would not be :Look I am different and still win. The love message would be: Look everyone has their own value for being themselves.

Yes, that's the message - love and tolerance.

I never watch it and it sounds like this year's fiasco underlines that decision.

I know I'm often naive in my outlook on life, but I prefer that to a cynical view on things.

Funny the first post is getting the thumbs down... I was happy Austria won, song wasn't the bets but that was never the point.

Shame about France though, that really was a good song.
