I suppose we can personify the USA as having wants, but in this case, it’s Trump who wants to placate his “pro-life” base. As a result of the hunger for power of one man, women in war-torn situations may be on their own.

It’s even worse than it looks, the proposition forwarded by Germany and supported by France was doomed from the start, both China and Russia threatened to use their veto but in the end the US got them off that hook and they ‘only abstained’
