IF the Senate was to hold an actual trial, it would have to subpoena Bolton, Mullvaney and other administration figures who have direct knowledge of the affair. It would have to force the administration to provide relevant documents they have unconstitutionally refused to disclose to the House.
There's no way Moscow Mitch is going to allow the impeachment trial contemplated by the Framers; he, a supposed juror, has already declared that he is working hand in glove with the accused's lawyers.
sadly the senate will not call any witnesses. Graham and McConnel have been in on the kickback schemes themselves. They will shut this thing down quickly.
