What the ruling does or does not do is subject of debate.

The issue here is what the ruling does to send humanity backwards.
Those who want a 1950's style America with Little House on the Prairie, Andy of Mayberry and Father knows best kind of society will always be viewed as backwards.

The fight over the right to life will always be debated.
But I have always said that the motivation of some on the far right has had very little to do with right to life and more to do with religious morality.

Abortion from a medication standpoint (pills) and the futuristic notion of technology like artificial wombs will settle the right to life issues.
But this won't make the evangelicals happy.

My position on social conservatism has always been ..........

Humanity should not be guided by people who are frightened of humanity.

So I'm sure, since you are so concerned about unwanted babies, that following on the heels of this decision will be a similar decision guaranteeing the right of women everywhere to full and unfettered access to birth control.

You can NOT have one without the other. Otherwise, welcome to the Republic of Gilead.

Who am I kidding? You conservatives have always had a hard-on for the stick you can use to control women. Thanks for nothing, Donald.

They have a cycle they want to encourage:

    Woman is financially pressured

Rich man attracts her with his money and the promise of financial security

They have sex, woman gets pregnant

Man abandons woman because he refuses to pay for the child and often he doesn’t want his wife to find out

(There have even been cases where he abandons her because her vag has loosened due to childbirth and the man is obsessed with tightness)

Rich man aggressively works to criminalize abortion

Financially insecure woman stuck with raising rich man’s kid without his money

She’s called a gold digging whore

Rich man smirks to himself about what a stud he is and how he’s winning the biological reproduction game

Woman, her kid and men who are not rich all suffer from this dynamic

No policy can be sustained without substantial support from women. In places where abortion is restricted or outlawed in the US, a substantial share of women in that area agree with that policy. Maybe not a majority, but a substantial minority. Women are over 50% of the vote. No policy can pass without substantial support from women in the location.

OK. I'm certainly in favor of requiring fathers to support their offspring.

The potential slippery slope here is to what extent do we want the State to force men to take paternity tests?

The same “freedom loving pro life” rich men who dominate politics are also opposed to the State forcing them to do anything…including gathering their genetic data.

Not a big deal. If a woman brings a paternity lawsuit, the defendant man can either take a test, use other evidence to prove he's not the father or concede. That's the way it is now, like with any other lawsuit.

So he takes the test and it turns out he’s not the father.

Now what? Test another man or deny the child a father?
