We won't put boots
on the ground,
We will continue to arm The Ukrainians.
Canada has sent a Special Forces team.

To be fair, the Russians are arming the Russian speaking Ukranians and the West are arming the pro-European Ukrainians.
And to be equally fair, it’s already a war situation, albeit by proxy. 14.000 dead so far since 2013 pretty much states so.
Now, far be it for me to draw any fukking parallels to history on this splat of moronity, but, uh, Vietnam? Afhganistan? Korea?
And it always ends well.
Russia has major issues with Nato holding troop movements in Poland and elsewhere along its border. And Ukraine wants to join Nato and the West is arming Ukraine…
Now, don’t get me wrong on this issue, Putin is as mad as a hatter. He’s a trump, but intelligent and very fukking nasty to boot. But, the Russian’s do have a point from their perspective.
Diplomatically seen, the Ukraine has to be declared a neutral state with non-military international observers (UN) there, for escalations to unwind. The Ukraine government doesn’t want that (although I guess if they had to choose… ).
Another option would be to split the country in two. Ukraine doesn’t want that though.
Another option is that Russia does what it wants. Russia doesn’t want to put troops on the ground though. Because then their own soldiers will be stuck in a proxy war fighting rebels and what-not for years to come who are being secretly financed and armed by the West. They are not stupid.
An all out war between NATO and Russia is not in the table. And over Ukraine never will be.
Ukraine isn’t NATO and isn’t EU.
