Annotated Games
1. e3 e5 2. c4
English opening
2... Ng8f6 3. Nb1c3 Bf8b4 4. Ng1e2 O-O 5. a3 Bb4e7 6. d4 exd4 7. Ne2xd4 d5 8. cxd5 Nf6xd5 9. Bf1d3 Nd5xc3 10. bxc3 Nb8d7
I considered c5 here. This would have likely prompted Nf3..
11. O-O c5 12. Nd4f3 g6
Here I was anxious to prevent Bf5 from white.
13. Ra1b1 Be7f6 14. Qd1c2 Nd7b6 15. e4 c4 16. Bd3e2 Rf8e8 17. Rb1b4 Qd8e7 18. Be2xc4 Nb6xc4
Qxe4 would have been bad. 19.Bxf7+..Kxf7 20.Rxe4.. leaving white in a clearly winning position.
19. Rb4xc4 b5 20. Rc4b4 a6
I think this was inaccurate. I should, perhaps, have played the pawn to a5, forcing the rook back to b3.
21. Rf1e1
White is planning e5.
21... Bc8b7
An obvious counter since white will not wish to expose the knight on f3, allowing bishop capture and recapture with g2, exposing the king.
22. Bc1f4
White sets up e5 again.
22... Ra8c8
I switched focus to the pawn on c3, now vulnerable.
23. Re1e3
White defends the pawn.
